Dear my lovely husband and my lovely daughters.

This is to let you know that I am writing a paper about an integrated model of teacher professional development to use the Internet for learning and enhancing mathematics teaching at primary schools. The term integrated is used because this model has three separated but interacting components, namely (1) five characteristics of PD drawing from the literature, (2) zone theory of influences of teacher professional learning, and (3) ethnography. In this paper I will explain each of these components and illuminate their interactions through a case of a primary school teacher in Australia. In this paper, I only focus on two critical issues that emerge from this study. First, the intervention should start from where the teacher was and second, how to response when the teacher positioned the researcher just as a helper.

My reason to write this idea is to offer a model that could be used to address the current problem, namely the difficulties in involving teachers to optimise the use of the Internet as a tool for learning and for teaching mathematics. This model is also powerful in understanding the complexity of learning and teaching with the internet, leading to a better understanding on why and how to support the teacher.
