We have:
1. Video files
2. Voice files
3. Word document of transcript (original)
4. Transcript with indication of events (Chuncked)
5. Table of analysis (from research week with two template)
6. Excel Table (Summary tables)
7. Nvivo coding sample/standard coding
What I send for discussion
1. Three files of transcript with "chuncked line"(Lucky, Muzeva, and Sbongile)
2. Two files of table from research week and my notes of reading the table
3. Three files of Summary table (Lucky, Muzeva, and Sbongile)
4. Notes of analysis
Let me write my thinking from this two weeks analysis.
1. The transcript format
What was said and what was done
Why are we using this?
- enable us to capture for example the visual mediation.
- enable us to understand better the response of learners such as in chorusing as the teacher point the words written on the board.
- Challenge: "what was done" were not capture similarly by the transcribers. The question : what aspects must be captured and Why do we need to capture them?
2. The transcript should contains "chunking line" as a process of analysis.
See for example, Lucky, Muzeva, and Sbongile". This indicates the separation of a specific little story with particular intended learning object. Shadrack did in detail for example based on the routine. I broke them down based on the mathematical ideas/concept/procedure teacher intended.
What does this mean?
If we want to capture them into the table of summary, we should have a consistent chunking.
3. I am not sure how the table of analysis from the research week in answering our big question:
The nature of MJ
Do we have to make this table for each teacher?
Challenge:
This can take very long time. Many are about technical works such us "copy and paste", it doesn't capture the intensity; it is note very easy to read as a whole. I found, reading the transcript is favourable for me.
Reading Shadrack' transcript (original) is still very interesting, and this even better if it is accompanied by pictures as Ann Chapman did. Shadrack located the pictures in his table.
Reading Muzeva transcript (without any table of analysis) still helped me in transferring into the table of analysis.
Advantages:
From the table of analysis, you can see the examples, the visual mediation. These are not in the summary table.
However,
Well, how many pages I must send and what time?
