Parts of the project

One of the main changes is that we are going to put more emphasis on the Gr 9 -10 transition.

1)      Theme work
a.       Theme 3 – Congruence at Gr 9 & 10 level (have included Gr 10 here since Gr 10 geom is scheduled soon after we end Theme 3)

b.      Theme 4 – Probability Gr 9 level in preparation for CAPS Gr 10 2012

c.       We will combine the north and east clusters on Wed afternoon so no more Tuesday theme work


2)      Gr 12 focus
a.       Exam feedback session (17/8)

b.      Gr 12 revision – helping teachers make this really count (24/8)

3)      Integers interest group

a.       Planning will start end July

b.      Will run on 4-5 Thursday afternoons on campus

4)       Working group for Gr 9 -10 transition

a.       This is new idea and gives us opportunity to try out some new ideas

b.      This group will hopefully include some WMC team members, some outside consultants, GDE subj advisors, some project teachers

c.       4 main tasks
                                     i.      Source or develop a test for Gr 9 that can be used to help in the selection for Maths vs Maths Lit for 2012
                                     ii.      Plan Theme 4
                                      iii.      Produce a coherent work programme for 2012 for Gr 10 based on CAPS and run 2 day workshop with teachers on this in Nov
                                     iv.      Revise the current Gr 9 work programme for 2012 in light of Gr 10 CAPS and run 2 day workshop with teachers on this in Nov

5)      School visits

First 3 weeks of term 3 (starting 18 July) for Gr 9 functions.
